February - Fun, Facts & Fantasticals

Superbowl, Valentines and Mardi Gras - all in one month and each within a few days of the other! Sounds like a nearly week long party fest!

One study showed that on Super Bowl Sunday the country consumes a whopping 1.4 billion wings! That sounds like a lot of wings, but it is really only about 4 wings per person. I don't know about you, but I can put away a lot more than that all by myself. I bet the numbers go up when Fat Tuesday hits just a couple of days later - like it does this year - and everyone is at those Mari Gras parades with their boxes and buckets of chicken. After all, chicken is one of the preferred and favorite parade route foods. With the potential of up to 80 parades rolling the streets of New Orleans, that can be a lot of chicken! Try one or all of the following recipes to serve for Superbowl, carry to the parade with you or just to enjoy at home. Laissez les bon temps rouler!

When the festivities of the big game and the parades come to a close it might be a good time to just kind of kick back, relax and chill with your favorite person on Valentine's Day. You don't have to make it some big elaborate affair, try keeping it simple, pleasant and non-stressed. Here are a couple of ideas to think about that can be easily enjoyed and romantic too:

Cook a favorite meal

Offer breakfast in bed

Recreate your first date or other special occasion

Watch a movie together with no phones or social interruptions

Have a campfire

Spend time together
